Start a Roofing Sales Career With No Experience
You do not need to have grown up on roofs to do well in roofing sales. If you are good with people, you keep your word and you tell the truth, Robust Roofing will teach you the rest. We provide your HAAG certification and comprehensive training alongside the licensed Property and Casualty insurance adjuster on our staff, and the Roofing Project Manager role you would be training for is paid on a structure we believe beats every other roofing sales job in North Georgia.
What we hire for
Roofing can be taught. Character cannot. So instead of asking how many roofs you have sold, we look for three qualities and train everything else.
Communication
In this job, communication means explaining hail damage to a homeowner who has never been on their own roof, describing how an insurance claim works to someone filing their first one, and listening long enough to understand what a family actually needs. It also means returning calls and texts promptly, because a homeowner waiting on news about their roof is a homeowner who worries.
Follow-through
A storm restoration project has many steps: the inspection, the documentation, the claim, the adjuster meeting, the color choice, the build and the final walkthrough. Follow-through is what carries a homeowner across all of them. If you show up when you said you would and finish what you start without being reminded, you already have the hardest part of this job.
Honesty
Robust never waives deductibles, because waiving them is illegal in Georgia. That is the floor, not the ceiling. Honesty also means showing homeowners exactly what your photos show and nothing more. If the inspection does not show storm damage, you say so. Homeowners can tell the difference, and so can we.
What we train
- HAAG certification. Robust provides your HAAG certification, a credential built around inspecting roofs and identifying hail and wind damage correctly.
- The insurance side. You learn alongside our licensed Property and Casualty insurance adjuster: how a homeowner files a claim, what happens when the carrier's adjuster visits, how a scope of work is built and when to prepare a supplement.
- Roofing itself. The parts of a roof system, what storm damage does to each part and how a full replacement comes together.
- Documentation. How to photograph every slope and organize damage so a carrier can follow it.
- The RoofMap app and homeowner portal. The tools you use to manage projects and to walk homeowners through options and colors.
Why a licensed adjuster on staff matters to a beginner
For most people new to storm restoration, the insurance side is the steepest part of the learning curve. Policy language, carrier procedures and scopes of work are unfamiliar, and guessing wrong can cost a homeowner. At Robust you do not learn that side by trial and error. A licensed Property and Casualty insurance adjuster is on our staff, reviews documentation with you, prepares supplements with you and backs you up when you meet a carrier's adjuster. You build confidence faster because you are never on your own. Our roof insurance claims page gives a feel for the process from the homeowner's side.
Skills that carry over from other work
- Customer service: patience with people who are stressed and need answers.
- Teaching or coaching: explaining something complicated until it makes sense.
- The trades: comfort on a job site and respect for good workmanship.
- Hospitality: reading a room and making people feel taken care of.
- Military service: discipline, punctuality and finishing the mission.
- Retail or other sales: starting conversations and guiding decisions.
None of these is required. They are simply the kinds of experience that tend to translate, and we would rather hear how you have treated people in past jobs than how much you know about shingles.
What the work looks like once you are trained
As a Roofing Project Manager, you meet homeowners, run free roof inspections with photos, document storm damage, work the claim with our in-house licensed adjuster, walk homeowners through options and colors in the RoofMap homeowner portal, coordinate the build and do the final walkthrough. Most replacements finish in one day, and you stay the homeowner's single point of contact the whole way. The pay, stated plainly
New to the industry or not, the role pays:
- A $75,000 per year base
- A true 50/50 split with no deductions
The split is not reduced by fees taken off the top before it is calculated. Many roofing sales plans advertise a split and then take fees off the top. Ours does not, and that is why we consider it the most generous pay structure in North Georgia roofing sales. Our roofing sales compensation page explains the details and lists the questions you should ask any company before you accept an offer.
